This class helps the student to understand the inter-play between mental health and substance abuse and how to treat both problems with the goal of returning the individual to optimal functioning.
Common Co-occurring Disorders reviewed in this class are:
- Anxiety Disorders, Mood Disorders
- Personality Disorders (Borderline, Narcissistic and Antisocial Personality Disorder)
- Cognitive disorders due to Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI), and
- Neurocognitive Functions brought on by Dementia and Alzheimer's Disease
